25 March 2022 – News in Brief
KZN Masters
Just a short report back in-between what has turned out to be a hectic couple of weeks until April when our son returns to Australia.
Thanks to everyone who competed in the KZN Championships. We had a good showing considering what Covid has done to the world.
I think that it was a Championship of mixed fortunes, some records, some close to records and knowing that they need to work a little harder. There were others who fell across the finish line, not to mention a few pulled muscles. I think with the break in competition has shown some of us that it is back to the drawing board.
The new venue in Pietermaritzburg, which was different and rather nice, Masters had a room of our own where we had a full view of the track. Some athletes took advantage and left their kit with us which was great. Next time we know we can take the urn etc. I just hope that they have a maintenance budget otherwise it could quiet easily fall into the old trap.
I know that we had to travel and some of us had to find accommodation for the night, just remember all the years that we had it easy, and others had to travel. That’s the problem with a Province that covers such a large area.
Thanks to our evergreen Jodi for being there to help as well as Liz, who now has a podium to encourage everyone from.
The medals this year were handled by KZN and worked well. We were next to the room that did the results, so got them at short notice. Clyde Kinloch and his team need to be congratulated for their hard work. Also, Dees, Jabu and their team from KZNA.
We are looking at ways of keeping everyone in the loop on a regular basis and will keep you updated on what we are planning.
Regards

Dear Members
On the 21st February 2022, I received the resignations of the Chairman, Johan Labuschagne and Secretary, Sharon Fuchs with immediate effect.
For this reason, we have called for a Special General Meeting in order that the committee may continue functioning for the best interest of Masters Athletics.
Please find notice and agenda for the S.G.M. below.

Dear members
There has been some confusion on the KZN Championships. What we have been able to sort out is as follows:-
Kings Park has been declared unsafe due to structural problems and the risk to the public being injured.
They will take place on the 11th and 12th of March in Pietermaritzburg. Talking to Clyde, it will be Friday afternoon into the evening and Saturday.
When the program is finalised we will distribute this to you along with entry forms etc.
With the roadworks etc if you are not going to stay over, please allow plenty of time for travel.
We will try and keep you updated as we receive information.
Regards
Bill Pellew
V/Chairman
